SHABQADAR/ DI KHAN: Two members of a former peace committee were injured in a roadside blast in the Mohmand Agency on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, a political administration official said unidentified persons had planted an improvised explosive device on a dirt track in Daweezai area of Pandiali tehsil. The explosion injured two members of a former peace committee. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Last Sunday, a security official identified as Hafiz Kashif was killed in an IED attack in Daweezai area, prompting the political administration to impose a curfew in the area as well as in Alingar Chamarkand which was rocked by three blasts in as many days.

Meanwhile, a mine explosion left one man injured in Tank district’s Tajauri village on Thursday, a police official said. The victim was stated to be in a critical condition.

Tahir Nadeem was going to catch some fish when he was hit by the mine blast. He was referred to District Hospital Tank because of his critical condition. Mine blasts are common in Tank where they float down via floodwater channels from Waziristan. Locals residents say they have time and again alerted the authorities concerned about this threat but to no avail.
