Friendship: China-Pak car rally rolls into Pakistan

Rally aimed at highlighting CPEC, Silk Route

GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Around a score vehicles in the  China-Pakistan Friendship car rally on Friday rumbled through the Khunjerab pass to enter Pakistan.

According to details, a welcome ceremony for the participants of the rally, which originated from China was held at zero point in Khunjerab. Provincial Minister Works Dr Iqbal, Gilgit-Baltistan Commissioner Sebtain Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Fraq and many others attended in the event. The rally comprises at least 22 cars with 52 participants and  is aimed at highlighting China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Silk Route . It  had travelled to as far as Sost on Friday and will pass  through main cities of the country. “The Pakistani authorities extended their hospitality and provided all facilities, guidance and support  which was remarkable,” remarked one of the Chinese rally drivers.

Earlier, Diamer DIG Khuram Pervais chaired a high level meeting in Diamer to chalk out security arrangements for the rally.

The DIG has constituted special teams under the supervision of Diamer Assistant commissioner. Rescue 1122 and fire brigade to provide security to the delegation.
