LAHORE: The recruitment process to fill in 344 riverine posts needs to be completed soon, said Punjab Police Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

Around 300 constables and 44 drivers will be recruited on these riverine posts, he said while speaking at a meeting held at the CPO office on Monday. He also reviewed the progress on riverine posts, inter-provincial border check posts and Guzara Allowance ATM Cards.

Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol Amjad Javed Saleemi informed Sukhera that 49 riverine posts were fully operational while remaining posts were to be operational within a week.

All the check posts have been provided with optical fibre cable with 10MB internet connection, he said, adding that these check posts would be monitored in all districts. A dashboard has also been set up at the CPO office for centralised monitoring.

“We have issued letters to DPOs to take all necessary measures for better functioning of the check posts,” he said.

Talking about Guzara Allowance ATM Cards for widows of policemen, Additional IG Welfare and Finance Sohail Khan informed Sukhera that 3,000 cards had been issued throughout the province. “Almost 85% of these cards are now activated while the remaining cards will be activated soon,” he said.
