RAWALPINDI: A man shot dead his wife, his sister-in-law, father-in-law, and mother-in-law over a domestic dispute in a village located on Chakwal Road near Mandra on Saturday, the police said.

Shams Pervaiz, reportedly a retired army officer, become infuriated after failing to convince his wife to return home after she had left him to stay with her parents. Pervaiz, in a fit of fury, shot dead his wife, 23-year-old Tasleem, his sister-in-law 25-year-old Tayyaba, his mother-in-law 45-year-old Khatoon Bibi, and his father-in-law 55-year-old Fazal ur Rehman at their house located at village Kakhra in the jurisdiction of Mandra Police, Gujar Khan.

The police arrested the murderer and recovered the weapons used in the quadruple murder, a police officer said. Pervaiz, a resident of Chak Beli Khan, had married Tasleem Bibi a year and a half ago and the couple had a six- month old baby boy. However, after several bitter quarrels with her husband, Tasleem left him and started living with her parents.

Distraught, he went to his father-in- law’s house on Saturday to convince his wife to return home. Instead, he got embroiled in a violent argument with his in-laws which aggravated the situation and he shot all four to death.

Realising his action, he fled the scene taking along the son of his sister-in-law with rather than his own six-month old son. Rescue 1122 moved the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for autopsy an autopsy while police filed a case at Mandra police station and started a search.

They raided Pervaiz’s house in Dhoke Bhattian and recovered the boy. Later, the police managed to arrest Pervaiz along with the murder weapon.
