Eating beef in India

Letter September 22, 2016
The aspect of respecting one’s faith is understandable

KECH: According to a report, extremist mobs are killing Muslims in India because they are slaughtering, selling and eating cow meat, whereas the majority of the people in India consider the cow to be a holy animal.

As beef is cheap in India, Muslims and other minority communities are sometimes forced to eat it as opposed to other kinds of meat. If extremist mobs are not willing to allow Indian Muslims and other people to eat beef, they must ensure the well-being of their people and provide other affordable food alternatives for them so they can sustain their families. The aspect of respecting one’s faith is understandable but all citizens’ well-being should be taken care of.
