Free-will couple murdered over honour in Lasbela

The police have taken into custody the suspects who allegedly committed the murder

QUETTA: A couple was killed for marrying of their own choice in the Raik area of Lasbela district on Tuesday.

The police have taken into custody the suspects who allegedly committed the murder. The couple had married out of their own choice two months back in Sibi and had then settled in Raik area of Bela Tehsil. The two continued to receive threats from their relatives.

“The victims identified as Muhammad Anwar and Hasna fled Sibi and settled in Bela after receiving death threats from the accused,” the police said, adding that the woman’s family continued chasing them and traced them in the Bela area.

“The arrested suspects identified as Muhammad Bachal and Muhammad Aslam Jatoi reached the couple’s home and slit their throats,” the police officials said adding that the accused had managed to flee from the crime scene but the police later arrested them from the Windar area of Lasbela district.
