Stylista and founder of the super-fun blog, Siddy Says, breaks down her unconventional style and shows us how one can be fashionable at any age, career, or form

Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage

How would you describe your body type?

I have the quintessential desi pear-shaped body.

Has your body type changed over the last five years?

I resolve to be more disciplined about my health and fitness but never end up following through. I had my daughter four years ago, so my body has changed drastically, but I’m also more at peace with it. I think the constant struggle to try and mold yourself into a ‘type’, ends as you age.

How has your style changed over the years?

I think it’s become more practical. Being fully committed in a corporate career, running a blog, being a mom and a homemaker all at once forces you to think intelligently about fashion. I prefer looks that go from day to night and are comfortable yet chic — fashion is a constant and it shouldn’t be a pain.

In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?

My thighs!

How do you dress your body according to your body type?

Well honestly there is no escaping my thighs. So it’s usually peg trousers, flared jeans, or a busy top. Anything that helps break down the body and takes the focus away from the center.

In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?

The biggest mistake I feel most women in Pakistan make is following the herd. Whether it’s a certain type of shoe, a bag, or a cut of shalwar kameez, everyone ends up looking so cookie cutter.

Which silhouettes suit your body the most?

I love wearing skirts — long and midi. If I could, I would wear skirts all the time. I love how fun they are to mix and match, how there are so many silhouettes you can make out of them and how they’re girlie.

What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?

I’ve always been very uncomfortable with clothes that are too fitted. I would happily steal things from my husbands closet and style it to my liking. So, anything bodycon, shirts with darts — they’re just not my cup of tea.
