'Use me' wisely: Fixit campaigner to install trash bins across city

Drive will begin from Korangi Expressway from next week

KARACHI: After launching several cleanliness campaigns, #FixIt campaigner Alamgir Khan plans to place trash buns across the city.

Khan posted a video on his social media page regarding the campaign recently.

Explaining the idea to The Express Tribune, Khan said that his team has decided to install trash bins in areas where piles of garbage have been accumulating over the years. "This will create a huge difference in handling of solid waste management in Karachi," he added.

Around 50 medium-sized trash buns will be installed in each district of the city, he said, adding that the campaign will be launched next week. The first site they have chosen is Korangi Expressway as there are various spots in the area where garbage is continuously present, he said. Speaking about the maintenance of the scheme, Khan said that a tractor of the #FixIt team will be used to clean the bins daily and garbage will be dumped at landfill sites.  Khan, who is affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek -e-Insaf, has termed his campaign to be "apolitical".



While commenting on the local bodies' representatives who assumed their offices recently, he said they must be given time to perform.

Khan became famous after he launched a campaign in which he drew stencils of former chief minister Qaim Ali Shah near open manholes.
