Express Family Festival: The mauj, masti and maza ends with fireworks

After three days of Mauj Maza and Masti, the Express Family Festival came to an end on Sunday.

KARACHI: After three days of Mauj Maza and Masti, the Express Family Festival came to an end on Sunday. Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan attended the closing ceremony of the event. He visited the expo hall and then he also attended the concert of Shehzad Roy in hall No. 5 for a while.

Talking to Express News, he congratulated the organisers for holding such an event for Karachiites. “Such festivals are needed especially in the chaos in the city. It provides families an outlet to escape from the terrorism concerns of the metropolis.”

As the weather was pleasant after light showers, scores of families thronged  the festival to enjoy the food court, the children’s play area, singing competitions, games and lucky draws. “After attending every stall in the huge expo hall, we relaxed and picnicked outside,” said one visitor.

Three lucky people took home with them motorcycles that they won after the lucky draw.

Those who attended the festival on all three days were eligible to participate.

Representatives from the UAE of the assistance fund donated $100 million for the rehabilitation of hospitals, bridges and schools in Swat, Waziristan and other flood affected areas.

There was a quiz about the UAE at their stall and winners were awarded with mobile phones.

Recognisable faces on the third day of the festival included Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Muhammad Saeed Shafiq, Sindh Sports Minister Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Khalid Abbas Dar, Tanveer Jamal, Ismail Tara and Muhammad Jahangir.

After Shahzad Roy’s concert ended at around 10 pm, the end of the festival was marked by a huge firework display.
