RBISE result: Girls outperform boys in HSSC exams

Certificates, cash prizes distributed among position holders

RAWALPINDI: Girls outperformed boys in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) annual examination held under the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE).

According to the result announced here on Saturday by RBISE Controller of Examination Abid Hussain Kharal, Yusra Bint-e-Hafeez of the Punjab College for Women Satellite Town Rawalpindi clinched the top position by obtaining 1,041 marks; Nimra Mumtaz of Munir Intermediate Girls College Mohalla Line Park Chakwal bagged the second position by securing 1,040 marks while Maleeka Zamurad Khan of the Punjab College for Girls Chakwal clinched the third position by obtaining 1,034 marks.

All the three toppers were from Pre-Medical Group for Girls.

In Pre-Medical Group for Boys, Farhan Ahmed of the Punjab College of Information Technology, Satellite Town Rawalpindi, secured the first position by clinching 1,014 marks; Ali Raza of the Fauji Foundation Higher Secondary School for Boys Talagang, Chakwal, secured the second position with 1,012 marks while Shoaib Falak Sher of Cadet College Hassanabdal, Attock, got the third position by securing 1,010 marks.

In Pre-Engineering Group for Girls, Mahnoor Mahmood of the Jinnah Institute of Informatics for Girls Satellite Town got the first position with 1,025 marks; Rimsha Tariq of the Punjab College for Women Satellite Town, got the second position with 1,021 marks while Maria Tariq of the same college got the third position with 1019 marks.

In Pre-Engineering Group for Boys, Muhammad Hanzla Aslam of the Jinnah Institute of Informatics, Satellite Town, got the first position with 1,018 marks;    Fahad Khan of the Cadet College Hassanabdal secured the second place with 1,010 marks while Rao Maaz Bin Khalid of the same college got the third position with 1,002 marks.

In Science General Group for Girls, Sara Afzal of the Punjab College for Women Satellite Town secured the first position with 993 marks; Bushra Ahmed of the same college grabbed the second position with 965 marks while Komal Fayyaz of the same college clinched the third position with 960 marks.

In Science General Group for Boys, Muhammad Haseeb of the Military College Murree clinched the first position by getting 987 marks;    Rehan Amin of the Punjab College Gujar Khan secured the second position with 972 marks while Zeeshan Alam of the Kalar Kahar Science College for Boys secured the third position with 966 marks.

In Commerce Group for Girls, Nageen Gul of the Punjab College for Women Gujar Khan bagged the first position with 959 marks; Rida Fatima Tanveer of the same college secured the second position by getting 931 marks while Shiza Arif of the same college bagged the third position with 924 marks.

In Commerce Group for Boys, Hassan Sheikh of the Punjab College of Information Technology Satellite Town stood first with 934 marks; Akbar Hassan of the Jinnah Institute of Informatics Satellite Town secured the second position with 933 marks while     Zeeshan Khan of the Punjab College of Information Technology Satellite Town got the third position with 931 marks.

In Humanities Group for Girls, Mahnoor Nadeem, Sheeba Kainat, and Ushna Umar secured the first, second and third positions with 930, 925 and 908 marks respectively.

In Humanities Group for Boys, Sharjeel Mustafa, Shoaib Ahmed, and Omair Karamat secured the first, second and third positions with 841, 828 and 825 marks respectively.

Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the position holders and all the successful candidates. He also distributed cash prizes and medals among the position holders.

The minister urged the students to concentrate on their studies.

“Only and only education should be the main goal of the students before starting a professional career,” he added.

RBISE Chairman Dr Muhammad Zareef said that the board was making all-out efforts to prepare error-free results.

Controller Examination Abid Hussain Kharal said that of the total 60,061 enrolled students, 58,755 including 35,455 regular and 23,300 private students appeared in the examination. Of them, 25,113 students failed while the overall result remained 56.96 per cent, he said.
