BATTAGRAM: At least 57 students of a seminary have been injured in a stampede in Battagram prompted by an earthquake that hit parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Monday morning.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PMDA), the injuries occurred as students rushed to get out of Madrassa Jamia Islamia in Bana village of Allai tehsil, out of fear that it would collapse due to the earthquake.

Four of those who were critically injured were referred to DHQ Hospital Battagram.

The met office said the tremor was minor. However, the quake registered 4.5 on the Richter scale.

District Police Officer Battagram Raja Saboor Khan told The Express Tribune that there were no reports of deaths.
