Actor Kangana Ranaut feels celebrities should not be blamed for misleading advertisements as they are not liable for brand endorsements. Stating that actors are just the face of the brand, the Queen star explained it is entirely the consumers’ decision as to what they wish to buy.

“We are just the face of the brand…the consumer is king. The buyers have to make their decision and know that it is entirely their responsibility what they choose to buy and invest their resources in. Actors should not be punished for misleading advertisements,” The Indian Express quoted Ranaut as saying.

The actor noted that celebrities cannot take responsibility of how the products are manufactured either. “We still are very naive when it comes to the product and consumer relationship. People just have to make their own decisions. Actors cannot, most definitely, take responsibility of how these things are manufactured,” Ranaut added.

Known for her brazen honesty, the Tanu Weds Manu star went on to confess that she is very selective when it comes to endorsements. Ranaut mentioned she would never associate herself with something that looks down upon a certain group of people or race. “It shouldn’t be derogatory to any section of consumers. I am against fairness and things that sort of want to propagate a certain group of people or race and run others down.”

According to Ranaut, this kind of discrimination is inacceptable. “Targeting people for the colour of their skin is complete discrimination. It is the worst thing to do, so I do not take up offers that focus on prejudice of any sort.”
