LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the process of progress had been revived under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said national economy had grown stronger over the last three years and there was substantial improvement in the law and order situation. “Today, Pakistan is safer, more peaceful and economically more stable than ever before. There is no room in the country for those spreading negativity. We need to promote unity and solidarity among the people,” he said.

Sharif said those engaged in politics of agitation should mend their ways. He expressed these views in a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers.

The chief minister said that the PML-N government was implementing an agenda of public service. “We have completed work on a record number of welfare projects,” he said. He said work was underway on several power generation projects. This would help eliminate of the need for unscheduled load-shedding.

He said the PML-N government had promoted transparency and set high standards in execution of development projects.

Sharif said those criticising his government’s public welfare projects were not sincere to the masses.

He said the people of Pakistan wanted progress and prosperity. He said those involved in agitation were wasting precious time of the nation and creating hurdles in the process of development.

However, he said he was confident that the enlightened people of the country would hold such leaders accountable for their actions. He said the public would not allow them to derail the process of development.

He said political parties trying to create chaos in the country for their selfish interests were the real enemies of the nation. He said the people of Pakistan were conscious of their designs and would reject their calls.
