ISLAMABAD: The country’s largest humanitarian organisation has launched a helpline, psychological support services, and awareness programmes for families of missing people and children.

“Psychiatrists from Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) are providing psychosocial support to families of children who have gone missing, besides running awareness campaigns to prevent such incidents,” PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi said on Tuesday while talking to The Express Tribune.

The ‘1030 Lost Helpline’ has been started by establishing desks in major hospitals of almost all main cities through which any person can report missing family members.

Healthcare services

Elahi said the organisation will register 100,000 blood donors.

The organisation is establishing 121 laboratories across the country and the first one has started working in Islamabad.  Elahi said PRC will soon start blood screening tests in jails.

Emergency service

He said that National Ambulance Service College has been established in collaboration with National Ambulance Service College of Ireland that will help producing paramedics.

Women forum

PRC has launched a women’s forum at its national headquarters to address issues facing women and girls in times of disaster.
