A fighting chance: Kalash tribe appreciates police vacancies  

The speakers expressed satisfaction over measures being taken by the administration for the protection of minorities

CHITRAL: Local representatives, elders and community members of the Kalash tribe have thanked the K-P chief minister, IGP, Malakand DIG and Chitral DPO for announcing vacancies in the special police force.

A press conference was held by local representatives on Monday where the speakers thanked officials for announcing 100 vacancies in the police force and providing them an opportunity to play their role. Bumboret nazim Advocate Muhammad Rafiq, naib nazim Muhammad Ibrahim and others were present on the occasion.  “The terrorists wanted to end the existence of the Kalash tribe, but the government provided safety to us and we are thankful,” Rafiq said.

The speakers also expressed satisfaction over the measures being taken by the administration for the protection of minorities in Chitral. They thanked the Malakand GOC for provision of financial assistance and support to the families of two shepherds who were killed by militants in July.
