Indian Test captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday promised to send a signed bat to umpire Aleem Dar’s son, Hassan, urging him to visit his side the next time his father officiates a match involving India.

In a video message on Facebook, the 27-year-old batsman shared a few words of wisdom and motivation with Hassan, and said he would like to meet him in the future.

“Keep up with your hard work, and keep believing in yourself,” said Kohli.

“Hopefully, we will meet in the future, whenever you decide to accompany your father on a tour match,” he added.

Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, who was sitting next to Kohli in the video, is currently in West Indies as India are playing the hosts in a four-match Test series.

Due to the Delhi-born’s skill with the bat, he has gained popularity around the world from cricket fans.

Many Pakistanis also admire the right-hander, hoping to learn from his success on the field.
