KARACHI: A teenage girl was killed on Wednesday at her house in Baldia Town. Police officials suspect the victim's cousin was behind the incident.

Fifteen-year-old Sitara, daughter of Kareem Buksh, was killed inside her house located in Mumtaz Brohi Goth, within the limits of Mochko police station. Police, while quoting the initial investigation, said that the victim's cousin, identified as Luqman, was behind the murder. The accused visited the victim's house as per routine at the time of incident and was talking to the victim's parents. "While chatting with the parents, he [accused] suddenly pulled the knife out of his pocket and began stabbing the victim in her abdomen," said SHO Irshad Inam Memon.

The accused managed to escape but left the weapons as well as his motorcycle. The victim was critically wounded and was shifted to Civil hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her body was later handed over to her family for burial.

The officer said that the girl's wedding was scheduled to be held in the coming months. "The accused already had a knife. This means that he arrived at their home with the intention to kill the victim," said the officer. He said the accused is already married. The police have registered a case against the accused and are currently searching for him.
