NEW DELHI: While she believes actors often battle the pressure to perform well in every film, Kapoor & Sons star Alia Bhatt said she is not an insecure person but there are times when she feels very vulnerable.

The 23-year-old said there is an underlying feeling of insecurity in the world of glitz and glamour, with many factors making one wary about their position in Bollywood.

“I think various things like insecurities of feeling the pressure to perform with each film and the pressure for the film to do well at the box office make actors a little wary of the position that they are in,” said Alia.

As the daughter of film-maker Mahesh Bhatt, Alia shared she reaches out to her family when feeling helpless. “I am not a very insecure person but yes, there are times when I feel shaken and I think the only way to deal with it is through the support of my family and friends. Somewhere within yourself, you have to find a place where you are very happy and very peaceful,” added Alia.

One the same note, she feels the most important thing is to not take oneself too seriously. “I am a serious worker but I don’t take myself seriously. I think that is the best way to do things. Because the day you start taking yourself way too seriously, there are too many boxes of questions that will open up for you.”

Since her debut project Student of the Year (2012), Alia has delivered laudable performances in films such as Highway, 2 States, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Kapoor & Sons and Udta Punjab. Her only setback was last year’s Shaandaar.
