KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court extended on Saturday the remand of two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a police officer.

Rehanuddin and Zeeshan, both employees of the University of Karachi and workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, have been held for allegedly killing Inspector Taufiq Zahid, a prominent figure in the 1992 operation in the city.

According to the prosecution, Zahid was killed in Federal B Area in April, 2014.

The police presented the suspects before the court on the expiry of the first remand. The investigating officer sought more time to interrogate the suspects, which was accepted.

The judge granted four-day extension in the suspects’ physical remand and sought a progress report at the next hearing on July 26.
