During the drive, over 250,000 children aged five and below will be given polio drops.
Incharge polio drive Muhammad Hussain said that polio teams would visit 14 union councils of the Rawalpindi city, six wards of Rawalpindi Cantonment, seven union councils of Taxila and eight union councils of Rawalpindi tehsil, which have been declared high-risk areas.
The health official said that the reason for launching a special drive in these areas was presence of polio virus in sewage samples collected from these areas.
He said that polio teams have been issued special instructions that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.
He urged parents to cooperate with polio teams to help eradicate the virus.
