RAWALPINDI: A five-day anti-polio campaign in 35 high-risk union councils of the Rawalpindi city, cantonment, Taxila and rural areas of the district will kick off from July 25.

During the drive,  over 250,000 children aged five and below will be given polio drops.

Incharge polio drive Muhammad Hussain said that polio teams would visit  14 union councils of the Rawalpindi city, six wards of  Rawalpindi Cantonment, seven union councils of Taxila and eight union councils of Rawalpindi tehsil, which have been declared high-risk areas.

The health official said that the reason for launching a special drive in these areas was presence of polio virus in sewage samples collected from these areas.

He urged parents to cooperate with polio teams to help eradicate the virus.
