ISLAMABAD: After postponing his trip to the capital on Monday due to an infection in his leg incision, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will arrive in Islamabad today (Thursday).

The premier has summoned an important meeting of the National Security Council on Friday.  “The prime minister will chair a meeting of National Security Council and matters of national security will be discussed,” the PM Secretariat told The Express Tribune.

PM's return to Islamabad delayed due to infection

The meeting will be attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), three services chiefs, PM’s Adviser on national security, PM’s special assistant on national security, foreign secretary and other senior officials of defence and foreign ministries.

Earlier on Monday, a PM House statement said the premier is suffering from fever due to an infection and is currently undergoing treatment in Lahore. Nawaz was scheduled to chair crucial meetings on key national political matters in the federal capital.

Since landing back home on July 9, the PM has set up a camp office in Lahore from where he is running government affairs.

Pre-empting criticism: Nawaz advised to review AJK tour

The PM had left for London in the last week of May for a routine medical check-up before the physicians recommended an immediate open heart surgery. Following the surgical procedure, the PM stayed in London recuperating from the surgery and landed back home in Lahore on July 9 where he set up a camp office to run the affairs of the government.

Premier Sharif’s arrival today coincides with general elections in the AJK on 41 direct seats.

Thanks Allah that at last PM Mian Nawaz Sharif will be back in the capital where he is very much officially posted and always needed in the truest sense. I really very much appreciate reading that you have called a high powered meeting to discuss law and order situation in the country which in itself proves your concern towards the country and the which is the most important problem of the country in any case. I not only wish but pray that you crush those who endanger the lives of others. Please do allow me to talk about those specialists teams of doctors who took so many days just to treat your infection and fever which is so very common in any case and neither needs experts nor so long to treat. However to me you as PM have two options to choose the one which is the most appropriate and applicable (a) if these doctors did treat high infection and fever then they must be conferred some national honor on 14th August which is just knocking and hundreds are decorated on the day in any case (b) but if they did not do what they were supposed to do then they must be punished for their professional inefficiency.
