Annual results: Boys outshine girls in Matric science examinations

SUKKUR: Boys outshined girls and managed to clinch two positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) part-II science group exam, according to the results announced on Wednesday by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sukkur.

According to the result of the Matric science group, among male candidates, Aakash Ali of Evershine Higher Secondary School Ranipur clinched first position by securing 780 marks and received an A-1 grade. Samiullah of Cadet College Ghotki secured second position among the boys with 765 marks and received an A-1 grade and Mohammad Yousif of Apwa Excellence World School Sukkur got third position by securing 763 marks.

Among female students, Shagufta Naz of Mazhar Muslim Model Higher Secondary School Ranipur secured first position with 772 marks, Umaima Fatima of The Educators School Ghotki got second position with 761 marks and Nayab of Government Saint Theresa's High School Khairpur secured third position with 760 marks.

There were 51,372 registered candidates in all four districts, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and Naushero Feroz, out of which 51,365 sat for the examinations.

Out of this, 2,903 candidates received A-1 grades, 10,139 got A grades, 11,811 got B grades, 10,253 got C grades, 3,496 got D grades and 30 students received E grades. The total number of students who passed the exam is 38,632, while 12,581 failed. The result of 126 students was withheld due to cheating and while 26 candidates did not receive their results due to lack of documents. The overall pass percentage was 75.21%.

According to the notification, in the general group, the total number of registered candidates was 3,205, out of which 3,201 appeared in the examinations. No students were able to get A-1 grades and only 36 students were given A grades. The total number of passing students was 2,399, while 707 failed to qualify for the examinations. The passing percentage of male students was 74.20%, while that of female students was 80.90%. The overall combined passing percentage of male and female students was 74.95%.
