LAHORE: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) organised a Road Show in Dubai on Sunday to sensitise overseas Pakistanis about its functions. A large number of Pakistanis living in the UAE attended the event.

Speaking to the participants, OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said that the commission had been set up to address complaints made by Overseas Pakistanis. He said that of the 4,000 complaints received so far, the commission had addressed 50 per cent. He said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself monitored the commission’s performance.

The commissioner said that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, too, had adopted the commission model to address problems faced by overseas Pakistanis from the AJK. He said the Punjab OPC had provided technical assistance for setting up the institution in the Valley. Bhatti said that the OPC had developed a modern system to refer complaints to the departments concerned for action. The commissioner also gave a briefing on the occasion about how the OPC operates. A question-answer was part of the road show.
