ISLAMABAD: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Islamabad police has busted a gang of robbers involved in snatching money from people and recovered weapons and two cars bearing fake registration numbers.

According to details, SP Investigation Muhammad Ilyas constituted a team under the supervision of Bashir Noon, DSP CIA, and Islamabad. Team members consisting of SI Tariq Rauf, ASI Haider Ali Shah, ASI Tipu Sultan and others succeeded in apprehending a gang of five robbers and recovered four 30-bore pistols along with ammunition, two Toyota Corolla vehicles bearing fake registration numbers and instruments of robbery from the suspects.

They were identified as Sooli Khan alias Haji son of Muhammad, Dosha Khan resident of Garo Garhe Village Shangla District, Shakeel Bacha son of Bacha resident of Green Chowk Mangora Swat District, Haider Khan son of Shamas Zaman resident of Zaeeda Tehsil Sawabi District, Attaur Rehman and Jamsheed Ali sons of Abdullah Jan resident of Pooran Tehsil Shangla District.

They used to keep an eye on the people going to the bank and draw money as one member of the gang used to go inside a bank for surveillance and inform other members of the gang waiting outside about the person carrying amount drawn from the bank.

The gang members used to operate as such that they would come to a bank branch on a Toyota Corolla vehicle and then chase the persons carrying money and loot them at gun point.

During preliminary investigation, they confessed to involvement in three snatching incidents.

On May 23, 2016 they chased and snatched an amount of Rs1.5 million at gun point from Manager Kashif Aleem on Chanbeli Road I-10/2. An FIR was registered at Sabzi Mandi Police Station.

On June 1, 2016 the robbers managed to snatch an amount of Rs0.75 million at gun point on I-10 Service Road from Manger (Administration) Asim Saleem. An FIR into the case was registered at Sabzi Mandi Police Station.

On June 9, 20 16 the gang members managed to snatch an amount of Rs1.5 million at gun point from Assistant Murtaza on Service Road I-10/4. An FIR was registered at Sabzi Mandi Police Station.
