PESHAWAR: The police officers from Karak were awarded by IGP Nasir Khan Durrani for their exemplary performance and commitment to services.

This was stated in a handout issued on Monday. According to the document, the awards were distributed during a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in the city. Officers of the Karak police recently recovered Rs1,522,000 and a vehicle that were stolen from a Chinese oil and gas company accountant. The perpetrators were also arrested.

“The police encounter lasted for at least 45 minutes and the main accused, Abdul Shaheen, was arrested,” the handout stated. Police also recovered a Kalashnikov from his possession. Abdul Shaheen, along with four other men, snatched the amount from the Chinese company’s accountant near Algada Sarobi. He previously worked as a camp worker. In order to carry out the search operation, police blocked the Bannu-Kohat road to check passing vehicles. The encounter started when the suspect reached near the police check post and attempted to turn around and escape.

While speaking on the occasion, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani said the main credit for this success goes to the district programme officer and his team. “We hope his team will achieve even greater successes in future against criminal outfits,” he was quoted as saying.
