On his complaint, the Battagram police registered a criminal case against three kidnappers under Pakistan Penal Code. The accused were taken into custody but the girl could not be rescued.

Abduction: Two booked for kidnapping

As a result, Jan filed a petition with the Abbottabad bench of the high court. On Friday, a bench headed by Justice Ikramullah Khan heard arguments from the petitioner's side and summoned Hazara DIG Saeed Wazir and Battagram DPO Raja Saboor Khan. The court expressed its resentment over delays in rescuing the girl.

The bench admonished the two officers for the delay and asked them to ensure the girl is brought before the court on the next hearing which was fixed for the last week of July.

The court said if the girl was not produced, the police officers would face legal action.

When contacted, the Battagram police told The Express Tribune all the accused were arrested and were in Battagram jail.

He said the investigation staff has found clues that indicate the girl’s whereabouts and would succeed in rescuing her within the next few days.
