KARACHI: Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap’s latest outing, Raman Raghav 2.0, was released in Pakistan on Friday. However, with Ramazan under way and the film not having any major star power to attract audiences to theatres, it is not still sure whether or not the release the decision will go in favour of the exhibitors and distributors.

“It’s too early to say anything,” IMGC Media and Marketing Manager Sabina Islam told The Express Tribune. The film’s business will also be affected by its certification since the film has received an A (Adult) rating by the censors.

Meanwhile, according to Islam, Raman Raghav 2.0 is not expected to make an impressive run at the box office and fetch a huge return. “It is a crime thriller, and then we are in the middle of Ramazan, so we cannot say what’s going to happen. We are hoping fans of Nawazuddin Siddiqui will turn up to watch the film but we cannot say anything right now,” added Islam. On the same note, Islam stated that Kashyap’s fans have high expectations from the film.

Siddiqui, who has gained recognition through his work in Gangs of Wasseypur, Lunchbox, Maanjhi the Mountain Man and Badlapur, returns to impress his fans once again, as he plays the character of the serial killer in the film, who hunted the streets of Bombay in the 60s. The storyline revolves around Raman (Siddiqui), and the cop (Vicky Kaushal) who chases him.

“Yes, it is in many ways a horror film and such indie films don’t fare too well with the local audiences,” Amjad Rasheed, CEO of IMGC Entertainment told The Express Tribune. “Having said that, Siddiqui has created a dedicated following in Pakistan and I am sure that this will culminate into box office numbers.”
