ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau on Thursday took notice of delays in the verification of educational credentials of Capital Development Authority employees.

NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman has asked the CDA chairman to submit a detailed report on the issue at the earliest.

Verification of educational degrees of CDA officers and officials of BS-16 and above has been delayed due to a number of reasons, despite to the fact the Establishment Division, Cabinet Division, Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), and NAB have issued several directions in this regard.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the NAB spokesperson said several departments and employees of the CDA will soon devolved to the local government, which would make the verification exercise more difficult, and thus necessitating city managers to complete the exercise before devolution.

The CDA spokesperson said the authority had completed the first phase of verifications, during which matriculation and intermediate degrees of over 1,100 officers were verified. “Four CDA officers were found to possess fake degrees,” the spokesperson added.

He said in the second phase, the officers had been asked to get their bachelor’s and master’s degrees verified from the Higher Education Commission and submit verification documents with the authority’s HR directorate.

“Officers have been given one month for verification,” he added. He said soon detailed report over the issue would be submitted with the NAB chairman.
