Siblings and business partners at CKO Event Architecture, Sara Chapra and Omar Omari reminisce about their childhood days. From jumping off walls and sneaking out till the crack of dawn to becoming business partners of a successful organization, these siblings have done it all

What’s your first memory of each other?

Sara: Omar is not only my younger brother but my closest friend as well. I remember making milk for him in his bottles and changing his nappies too!

Omar: Sara picking out my wardrobe for two weeks while
mom was away.

What is the craziest thing you have done together?

Sara: The craziest thing was when we decided to work together as partners. Our journey together in the event business has been one crazy experience. It has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. We fell into the world of events quite unexpectedly and learnt the business together, one day at a time. We have been broke together and we have seen success together.

Omar: One day we decided to jump the wall and run off with our friends only to return home at the crack of dawn and have our own chokidaar chase us with an axe!

What did you get punished for the most as a child?

Sara: We were always the most rebellious out of all our siblings. We both jump first and think later.

Omar: We don’t like to hear no, so if someone tells us that we can’t do something, we want to know why and if you can’t tell us why then we are going to do it with or without consent! You can imagine how much trouble we used to get into while we were growing up.

If you could only wear a piece of clothing from the others closet, what would it be?

Sara: Omar has a great shoe collection that I love and if they fit me, I would gladly wear them all.

Omar: I don’t think there is anything in my sisters closet that I would ever want to wear – or admit I would wear at least.

If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would you do?

Sara: Drive his car.

Omar: Quit the gym.

What is the one thing you love about your sibling?

Sara: His crazy sense of humour.

Omar: Her adventurous and rebellious spirit.

If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?

Sara: We scream, shout and slam doors. But then 10 minutes later we send each other a text message saying ‘I love you’.

Omar: We are brutal when we fight! But if it’s a minor disagreement we just pretend like it never happened.

What is the one secret talent your sibling has, that you wish you did too?

Sara: He can jump over tall buildings.

Omar: She can fly.

Describe your sibling in three words:

Sara: Funny, intelligent and creative.

Omar: Incorrigible, creative and wicked.

Which fictional character is your sibling most like?

Sara: Snoopy, but he believes he is more like superman.

Omar: Charlie Brown.

How are your personalities similar?

Sara: We get bored easily and very quickly. It is what pushes us to constantly reinvent and change our perspectives.

Omar: We both have a very twisted sense of humour and a cynical tongue.

I can’t live without my brother/sister because…

Sara: We have always been together for as long as I can remember. We work together, travel together and even take our family holidays together. He is my brother and my closest friend, so trying to imagine life without him is virtually impossible.

Omar: She finishes what I start and I finish what she starts.
