KARACHI: A 23-year-old woman’s body was found near Do-Darya in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Saturday.

The police said that the girl was shot and killed after being kidnapped and an accused involved in her abduction-cum-killing has been arrested.

“The family of S* informed us about her disappearance on June 5,” said Sharae Faisal SHO Raja Tariq. “But she was killed a day after the kidnapping.”

The body was found after the information provided by the suspect, Babar Solangi, who was arrested earlier in connection with the kidnapping, said the police. Investigation officer Chaudhry Arif said that the police managed to arrest the accused after the family of the victim raised doubts at him.

“The investigation wing of the Sharae Faisal police brought the suspect with them who pointed out where the victim’s body was hidden,” said Sahil police SHO Manzur Khosa.

“She was shot in the neck and her body was wrapped in a blanket with her hands and legs also tied with the ropes.” The officer said that the victim’s body was placed in the bushes about one kilometre away from Do Darya.

The body was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy, where the doctors said that samples have been obtained for chemical examination to ascertain the actual cause of death. According to the police, the motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.

Two bodies found

Separately, bodies of two men were also found from Memon Goth area of District Malir.

The victims were identified as 38-year-old Mukhtiar Ali and Shaban Ali, 24, and they hailed from Nawabshah.

According to the police, both the victims were shot multiple times by unidentified persons. The bodies were shifted to JPMC for their autopsies. The police speculated that both were killed over personal enmity.
