QUETTA: At least two men, including a tribal policeman, were killed in a drive-by shooting in the Zamuran area of Kech district on Sunday – a day when six people were also wounded in a grenade attack elsewhere in the volatile province.

Gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened random fire in the main market of Zamuran before fleeing unidentified and unchallenged, a local administration official told The Express Tribune.

When officials of the Balochistan Levies, a regular tribal police force, reached the spot they found two men lying in a pool of blood. Both died before they could be driven to the Turbat District Headquarters Hospital. They were later identified as Balochistan Levies policeman Tahir, and Saddam. It wasn’t immediately know who targeted them and why.

In other violence, at least six people were wounded in a hand grenade attack in the Chaman tehsil of Killa Abdullah district. Officials said unidentified men lobbed a hand grenade in a house on College Road of Chaman before fleeing the scene.

Six people – among them women and children – were wounded in the subsequent explosion. Police and Levies personnel shifted the injured to hospital before cordoning off the area. An investigation is under way.
