FESCO asks police to prevent transformer theft

Risk Management Committee says there were fewer fatal accidents this year than last year

BAHAWALPUR/ FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company has sought the police’s help to prevent theft of electrical installations, FESCO Board of Directors Risk Management Committee Convener Rana Ahsan Afzal Khan said on Monday.

The Risk Management Committee met at the FESCO headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Convener Rana Ahsan Fazal Khan. Board Director Syed Alamdar Hussain Bukhari, Operations GM Haroon Rashid, Chief Financial Officer Zahid Hassan, Operations CE Amil Siddiqi and Development CE Masood Salahaudin attended the meeting.

The committee expressed satisfaction over the decrease in the number of fatal accidents this year.

Amil Siddiqui said during 2014-15, eight fatal and 13 nonfatal accidents had taken place in the FESCO region. There have been three fatal and 11 nonfatal accidents this year so far.

The committee issued directives to tighten monitoring and to publish safety slogans on FESCO tender notices and advertisements. The committee demanded a report on the incidents of theft of power transformers and the following police action.

Afzal and Bukhari said that they would try to establish a police help desk for the prevention of transformer theft cases.

The Risk Management Committee has directed officials to obtain an NOC from the WAPDA for land to be used for the extension of a road from Canal Road to Jhumra Road.

The Committee also reviewed the terms and conditions for issuance of long-term loans to FESCO employees and after some amendments, directed them to submit the terms and condition in a BOD meeting for final approval.
