Fundamental rights: HEC, law commission sign MoU

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to foster partnership for increasing awareness about rule of law and legal rights, particularly focusing on academia and the youth. LJCP Secretary Mohammad Sarwar and the HEC Executive Director, Dr Arshad Ali, signed the document. The accord envisages law clinics initiative to support enforcement of rule of law. Both the HEC and the LJCP will jointly hold different activities such as art competitions, intra-university debates, seminars, and walks for promoting rule of law. HEC Chairperson Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said objective of the MoU was to initiate joint efforts for raising awareness on rights.
