Jaffarabad police chief commits suicide

Police say SSP Jahanzaib Khan Kakar had been posted three months ago in Jaffarabad

QUETTA: The police chief of the Jafferabad district committed suicide in his office on Monday.

According to police, SSP Jahanzaib Khan Kakar shot himself in the head with his official 9MM pistol.

Two killed, five injured in blast near Balochistan University in Quetta

Officials present in the office rushed Kakar to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

DIG Naseerabad Sharjeel Kareem Kharal reached the hospital along with commissioner and sessions judge.

The local community, though adapted to recurrent acts of terrorism, was also shaken by the suicide of the top police official of the district.

The deceased DPO’s staff said that he seemed tense since morning and had asked not to be disturbed complaining of a headache.

According to police, Kakar was a commissioned officer and it was his eighth year in service, he was posted three months ago in Jaffarabad.

Police recover four bodies of minor girls from water tank in Quetta

The incident comes days after two policemen were killed while five others were injured in an explosion near Balochistan University in Quetta.

On May 3, at least five Rapid Response Group (RRG) personnel, including an officer, were injured as their vehicle came under attack by a roadside bomb in Eastern Bypass area of Quetta.
