Margalla Festival 2016: CDA all geared up for week-long festival

ISLAMABAD: The annual “Margalla Festival 2016” organised under the auspices of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will commence on May 28.

Different sports and cultural programmes will be organised across the city to provide healthy recreational facilities to the residents of the federal capital.

A meeting was held in this regard at the CDA headquartres.

Member Environment Sanaullah Aman apprised the meeting that since last many years, Margalla Festival had become a regular feature of the city life.

He briefed that sports tournaments including inter-club football, inter-club hockey, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis and taekwondo competitions would be organised at different grounds in the city.

Aman said that Ramazan Floodlight Inter-Club Cricket Tournament had also
been planned and renowned cricket clubs of the
twin cities would participate in it.

He said that in addition to those tournaments, competitions of traditional games would be also organised during the festival.

Tent pegging competition, Aman said, had become an symbol of Margalla Festival and keeping in view interest of the general public as well as of diplomats, this year the civic agency had planned to organise the competition at a large scale and renowned clubs and horse riders from all over the country would be invited to participate in it.

He also informed the meeting that a week-long cultural show along with musical concerts would also be organised to highlight the rich culture of the country.
