KARACHI: The 69th annual Cannes Film Festival is currently being held from May 11 to 22, 2016 with Australian director George Miller acting as the President of the jury for the main competition. Woody Allen’s latest feature Café Society, which stars Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart in leading roles, kick-started the opening-night revelries at the Film Festival. With a generous profusion of glitterati and plenty of opportunities for splendid red-carpet appearances, as well as being one of the most prominent dates on the international film calendar, few events rival the fashion appeal and star power of Cannes Festival. Joining the usual line-up of eye-catching gowns, we saw a bunch of beauties but two clearly grabbed the cake. They have already qualified as the women to watch out for after a stylish first few days in Cannes. And yet again, A-listers Amal Clooney and Naomi Watts put on another striking sartorial display on Thursday night as they made their way to the star-studded bash at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of George Clooney’s new flick Money Monster. What made these ladies pop on our radar as opposed to the rest of the showbiz galaxy — the finesse they radiated minus all the dolled-up fuss.

The 38-year-old stunning barrister proved that she could easily be an A-list star in her own right! The human-rights lawyer made quite the stylish entrance — wowing in a pale-lemon yellow one shoulder, decadent chiffon gown, with a ruched bust and a daring side split. The silhouette of Mrs Clooney’s dress along with that fluid chiffon skirt made it instantly recognisable as Atelier Versace. Not to forget the noteworthy flowing train of her striking gown — the Lebanese beauty pulled it off with charm and poise. The paparazzi favourite jazzed up her sombre gown with a stunning pair of rubicund earrings and rocked her signature voluminous hair-do.
Naomi Watts
Dazzling in silver, the Demolition diva led the way in the fashion stakes at the night of the prestigious event. Naomi is certainly one star who never puts a foot wrong on the red carpet — donning a slinky embellished maxi dress, the actor put on show her immaculately nimble frame. The slimline silver gown with shimmering sequins is by Michael Kors Collection, a brand Naomi swears by. It would be an understatement to say that the blonde bombshell was at her elegant best. Her sleek shoulder-length tresses, styled in Hollywood vintage waves were rested neatly on her shoulders, and a classic bold magenta lip provided quite the contrast with her goldilocks mane and inconspicuous dress.
