KARACHI: An alleged member of a banned militant outfit was killed and three law enforcers were wounded during an encounter in Manghopir on Saturday afternoon.

The shoot-out took place when the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police conducted a raid at a suspected hideout of militants in Pirabad, Orangi.

"We got a tip-off about the presence of local Taliban commander, Matiullah, and his comrades at their hideout," said CTD incharge Mazhar Mashwani. He added that the militants resorted to indiscriminate firing when they raided their hideout.

As a result of the militants' firing, three CTD personnel were wounded. However, after an exchange of fire one of the militants was arrested in an injured condition, while his accomplices and their commander managed to escape. The injured CTD personnel include two constables, Sajjad Hussain and Hassan, and a head constable, Shahzad Elahi. A passerby, identified as Majeed, was also wounded during the exchange of fire.
