Tarnishing nation’s image

It is disappointing to learn that Indian film director Kabir Khan had to face shoe-wielding protesters at the airport

KARACHI: It is disappointing to learn that Indian film director Kabir Khan had to face shoe-wielding angry protesters at Karachi airport, chanting anti-India slogans. Mr Khan came to Pakistan because he was extended an invitation by our people to attend a marketing seminar. He was very excited to be here. Is this the way we should be treating our guests? Pakistan’s hospitality is famous all over the world. International celebrities have acknowledged the fact that Pakistanis are the best hosts. Serious questions arise about the law-enforcement agencies performing their duties at the airport. Why were they not capable of countering such protests and stopping protesters from entering the airport premises?

If appropriate and immediate measures are not taken, as a nation we will not only have to face embarrassment, but will also lose respect in the eyes of the world.
