Oil and gas royalty: OGDCL has paid Rs229.7b to all provinces

The company paid Rs124.558 billion to Sindh

Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has made payments amounting to around Rs229.733 billion on account of oil and gas royalty to all provinces during the last 15 years, officials said Wednesday.


“OGDCL has paid around Rs229.733 billion royalty to Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) from financial year 2001-02 to 2015-16,” said officials.


Providing a breakdown, they said that the company paid Rs124.558 billion to Sindh, Rs35.244 billion to Punjab, Rs19.645 billion to Balochistan and Rs50.327 billion to K-P during the said period.


The National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources has recently directed all provinces to submit detailed reports with regards to the distribution of royalty among oil and gas producing districts. The body has also asked the provincial energy departments to furnish reports on gas theft incidents and prevention strategies.
