Pakistan Day: Students hold the key to bright future, says Nizam

PHEC chairman urges students to focus on learning and work hard

LAHORE: The role of students for the country’s bright future is of great importance, Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Nizamuddin said on Monday.

He was speaking at a ceremony at Arts Council arranged for a quiz competition in connection with Pakistan Day.

University of Education (UoE) Vice Chancellor Rauf-i-Azam, MPA Lubna Afzal, UoE Registrar Manzoom Akhter and Students Affairs Director Umar Saleem attended the event organised by Directorate of Students Affairs.

“The objective of celebrating Pakistan Day is to express love for our motherland,” Nizamuddin said.

He said that continuous effort, struggle and confidence were the hallmark of great nations.

“Students have a crucial role to play for the country’s development… they are the country’s future.”

He said that students should focus on their studies. “They should focus on learning and work hard,” Nizamuddin said.

Rauf-i-Azam said that education was an open secret for progress and prosperity.

Afzal said the youth were the guarantors of a developed country.

She urged students to seek higher education.

The Punjab University, the Government College University and the University of Education gained the first, the second and the third positions, respectively. Prizes and shields were given away to top participants.
