ISLAMABAD: The appointment of Ogra’s Chairman Tauqir Sadiq has been challenged in court. Ogra Executive Director (Technical) Muhammad Yasin submitted a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday saying Sadiq was appointed chairman of Ogra in July 2009 despite not meeting the requirements of the post. IHC will take up the case on Thursday (today).

“Tauqir Sadiq could not fulfil the criteria for the post but was appointed chairman of Ogra in July 2009. His appointment is illegal, politically influenced and against the Ogra ordinance,” said the petitioner’s lawyer.

The lawyer said that the Ogra chairman issued transfers orders for Yasin to another department on January 10 after he refused to illegally extend a private CNG station’s licence. He appealed to the court to declare Sadiq’s appointment illegal and void and cancel the transfer orders.
