KARACHI:

The Supreme Court on Wednesday restrained the Malir Development Authority (MDA) and the Sindh Board of Revenue from allotting, transferring or carrying out any transaction pertaining to government land.

A larger bench – headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim – also sought a report from the senior member of Sindh Board of Revenue regarding the allotment of the land of 43 dehs (villages) by MDA. The bench, which includes justices Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Khilji Arif Hussain, was hearing applications regarding the adjustment of the land at the top court’s Karachi registry.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, revenue board officials said MDA had sent a summary for preparing the master plan of 43 Dehs in Malir, but no allotment order has been issued by the government so far. They added that MDA had exchanged private persons’ property with government land.

The bench observed that the matter should be sent to NAB as the court could not hold an inquiry into matters pertaining to complaints regarding land adjustment.
