Bilateral agreement: IIUI inks MoU with Nigerian university

They also vowed to organise conferences, seminars and public awareness programmes with mutual interaction

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Sokoto State University Nigeria have joined hands for dissemination of knowledge in different fields of education by inking a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday.


Sokoto State University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nuhu O Yaqub and IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh signed the document.

The universities agreed on bilateral academic interchange to undertake variety of joint educational programmes and collaborate in research in areas of mutual interest and expertise.

Both sides further agreed to evolve a mechanism for exchange of academic staff and students for short-term and long-term study fellowship programmes.

They also vowed to organise conferences, seminars and public awareness programmes with mutual interaction and coordination.

Dr Yaqub termed the agreement a landmark to achieve academic excellence. He looked forward to promote cooperation and exchange of ideas in pursuit of education and learning in diverse areas of science, humanity, capacity development and training.

Dr Al-Draiweesh said the MoU would not only be cooperation between two universities but would further strengthen relations between two countries.  “Our doors are open for cooperation with all educational institutions of the world,” he said.
