Pmdc surprise inspection: Two medical colleges poorly-equipped

The operation theatres and recovery room lacked proper equipment

ISLAMABAD: A number of deficiencies including the lack of required equipment and facilities were found at a local hospital and a medical college by a team of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) in a surprise inspection on Wednesday, said a press release. The team, headed by PMDC President Dr Shabir Lahri, paid surprise visits to the Al-Nafees Medical College and Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad to examine teaching facilities. Expressing displeasure over the deficiencies at Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad the PMDC president ordered a comprehensive inspection to be held in the near future. It was found that the hospital lacked a cardiology, MRI, and CT scan facilities.

The operation theatres and recovery room lacked proper equipment, and monitors, suction machines and resuscitation equipment was also unavailable.
