MUZAFFARABAD: At least three people were killed while 18 others injured in two separate incidents across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) during the last 24 hours.

A van fell into a ravine in Tatta Pani, some 150 kilometres away from the capital city of AJK, while taking a sharp turn killing two people on the spot.

As many as 18 others were injured in the incident. Local people pulled out the bodies of the injured passengers from the damaged van.

The bodies and injured passengers were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Kotli for treatment.

Doctors said two passengers were critically injured while 16 others were discharged after initial treatment.

Student Electrocuted

In a separate incident, an eighth grade student was electrocuted in Koomi Kot area, some 31 kilometres away from Muzaffarabad.

According to the police a 14-year-old student Faizan Shafiq Kiyani was going to his tuition centre when he was electrocuted by a live wire lying on the ground. Residents of the area staged a protest against the negligence of the electricity department and demanded the government to compensate the bereaved family.
