Banned: New restrictions on motorcycle rickshaws

Motorcycle rickshaws travelling on Jhumra Road will not be allowed to cross Ghazi Petroleum

The district administration and city traffic police have consulted motorcycle rickshaw unions and have drawn up new boundaries for areas where motorcycle rickshaws can ply.


RTA Secretary Asif Mahmood Nool, CTO Sardar Muhammad Asif and Representatives of rickshaw unions Ijaz Hussain, Baba Shera met and decided to ban entry of motorcycle rickshaws at Narrwala Chowk, Kotwali Chowk, Chiniot Bazaar Chowk, Kutchehry Bazaar Chowk, Jamia Chishtia Chowk, the General Bus Stand, old GTS Chowk, on Jail Road and on Serena Road.


Under the new plan, motorcycle rickshaws travelling on Sheikhupura Road, Sargodha Road and Millat Road would not be allowed to cross Jamia Chishtia Chowk and motorcycle rickshaws travelling on Jhumra Road will not be allowed to cross Ghazi Petroleum on Mansoorabad Road.


The last stop for rickshaws will be Susan Chowk on Jaranwala Road, Ittehad Chowk on Samundri Road, Saleemi Chowk on Satiana Road, Pakistani Chowk on Narrwala Road and Imam Bargah Chowk on Jhang Road. Motorcycle rickshaws travelling on Kookianwala Road will not be allowed to go past Dairy Farm Mor on Rajbah Road.
