Pakistan-born Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja certainly has a strange way of welcoming newcomers to the team.

Footage has emerged of the Australian opener going out of his way to 'welcome' debutant Adam Zampa to the national side before second ODI in Wellington.

In the footage, Khawaja's hand is seen gradually move down Zampa's back and onto his buttocks as they stand with arms linked during the national anthem.

The 23-year-old young leg-spinner showed great composure, both during the national anthem as well as during the match, where he ended up picking two wickets on his debut.

The footage didn't go unnoticed as the opener was called out for the unusual on-field behavior by journalist Miguel D’Souza.

Both Khawaja and Zampa will be on the plane for the World T20 in India, which will begin from March 8. Australia will play their first match on March 18, when they will their World Cup 2015 final opponents New Zealand at Dharamsala
