FAISALABAD: Officials of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police arrested six people on Monday night for storing a large quantity of explosive material in a Khurarianwala police precinct. Police said that they had a licence for weapons but had broken the law by storing a large cache of explosives.

CTD and police officials conducted a joint operation in Makkoana and seized 200 bags of explosives. Each bag had 25kg of potassium chloride and barium nitrate. The six men were taken to Khurarianwala police station for interrogation. They had procured the explosive material from Lahore via Jaranwala and Nankana Sahib, a police spokesperson said.  He said that the men were being interrogated to ascertain what they had intended to do with the explosives.
