Self-harm: Man commits suicide in Hazara

As per the report, Javed shot himself in the temple with a 30-bore pistol and was critically injured

A man allegedly committed suicide while another man survived an attempt to take his own life in separate parts of Hazara on Tuesday.


According to a police report filed by Siraj, a resident of Shahelia village in Mansehra, his 32-year-old brother Javed went into his room Monday evening. A few minutes later, Siraj heard a gunshot and rushed into the room.

As per the report, Javed shot himself in the temple with a 30-bore pistol and was critically injured. He was rushed to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. In a separate incident, 29-year-old Imran, a contractor in Tamrai village, consumed a heavy dose of poison.

He was rushed to a hospital and subsequently referred to a facility in Rawalpindi. Imran is said to be out of danger.

Razia Bibi, Imran’s mother, told the police her son owed three of his friends money and was unable to pay them back on time. His friends had repeatedly threatened him over the loan. According to Razia Bibi, Imran was depressed and consumed poison.
