ISLAMABAD:

A Senate panel has censured the Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) for the late submission of a blueprint at the UN body outlining the actions the country would take post-2020 to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.

When a Senate Special Committee on Climate Change took up the matter for discussion at the Parliament House on Wednesday, former minister for climate
change Senator Mushahidullah Khan called for an inquiry into why the INDCs was not submitted on time.

“It is criminal negligence on the part of ministry officials that Pakistan submitted its INDCs after even Afghanistan,” Khan said, adding that it
was unfortunate that Pakistan was among a handful of countries which submitted INDCs after the deadline.

Climate Change Minister Zahid Hamid told the meeting that the late submission will not create problems for Pakistan.
